Visma Lights Up La Vuelta
Matty Brennan turned 21 just days before lining up for his first Grand Tour, and he wasted no time making his mark.
On Stage 2 of La Vuelta a España, the young Brit launched off the wheels of his Visma | Lease a Bike teammates and powered to victory by a bike length. Stellar leadouts from Wout van Aert and Christophe Laporte set the stage for two more wins on Stages 5 and 11, with Brennan delivering each time in his Giro Eclipse Pro.
Three stage wins in his Grand Tour debut continue the meteoric rise of one of cycling’s most exciting young riders.
Behind those victories has been the trademark teamwork of Visma | Lease a Bike. Wout van Aert has played a key role in Brennan’s leadout train throughout the Vuelta while creating opportunities of his own. Wout currently leads the Vuelta’s Points Classification in the Green Jersey. Coming off three stage wins and the overall GC at the Tour of Denmark, Wout is showing strong form as he builds toward the World Championships later this month.
Three stage wins. The Green Jersey. And 10 stages still to race.
Stay tuned to see what Visma | Lease a Bike can do next at La Vuelta.
